I am very exited to announce the opening of my first solo show in Porto, Portugal, the beautiful city I now call home. The exhibition, curated by Inés Deveaux, is at Galeria Catapult in CCBormbarda, in the heart of Porto Cultural District.

 SERIE ARENAS

Curatorial text by Inés Deveaux

In a world that demands speed, Silvia Salvagno's exhibition invites us on an intimate journey where change doesn't disrupt, but rather transforms.

This series is born from movement, waiting, and memory, where the artist uses seawater, natural pigments, and sand collected from the beaches of Portugal as materials. Each piece flows with the energy of the organic and evokes the poetry of simplicity. It offers us a pause: an opportunity to contemplate, to release the daily rhythm, and to find balance in the ephemeral. Because it is in stillness that change lies.

This proposal suggests a gradual immersion in space: from the tangible and concrete, like sand—witness to memory and the tides—to the fluid, introspective, and abstract lines depicted by the pigments, a result achieved through willpower and respect for the necessary waiting time. But here, change and waiting are not a loss. They are a way of starting over.

Through these works, the artist doesn't seek to retain the ephemeral, but rather to allow it to flow meaningfully. She reminds us that change isn't rupture, but rather possibility. And that by pausing, we can perceive the essential: the poetry of the instant and the subtle power of what is transformed.
